Waste oil firing: the well-kept secret of workshops

Every car service and machine repair shop generates waste oil, for the disposal of which they typically even have to pay. Meanwhile, this same material contains nearly ten kilowatt-hours of heat per liter. It is no coincidence that boilers operating with multiple types of oil are considered one of the most practical heating solutions for workshops.

How much heat is in a service's oil?

A medium-sized car repair shop produces several thousand liters of waste oil per year. One thousand two hundred to two thousand liters of oil covers roughly the entire winter heat demand of a smaller workshop, meaning that heating can practically be solved from its own by-product. What is missing can be supplemented with normal heating oil, as most machines handle both.
