Refurbished boiler or new? Honestly about the difference

As a dealer, we receive the question daily: isn't it risky to buy a used industrial boiler? Our short answer is that it depends on where from. A machine with an unknown history and invisible condition ordered online is indeed a risk. A inspected, refurbished boiler that can be viewed in operation, however, is a different genre.

What makes an industrial boiler different from a used car?

The mechanical engineering of industrial boilers is old-fashioned in the best sense of the word: thick steel structure, simple, repairable mechanics, replaceable wearing parts. A quality Austrian or German make, such as Fröling, KWB, Viessmann or Buderus, is built for a lifespan of 30-40 years. At ten to fifteen years old, these machines are not even halfway through their lifespan.

Furthermore, the electronics and combustion control are modular, meaning they can be replaced and upgraded. The boiler body, which represents most of the machine's value, practically does not age under proper maintenance.

What does refurbishment include with us?

We inspect every machine: the boiler body is pressure tested, the chamotte lining and the combustion chamber are repaired or rebuilt as necessary, the feeding system, drives, and fans are checked, and wearing parts are replaced. The control system is commissioned and tested. Any machine that does not meet our standards does not go on sale, but becomes a spare parts donor.

The price advantage is significant: depending on the type and condition, we offer functional machines ready for immediate work at 25-50 percent of the new price. We recommend a new boiler if the investment is accompanied by a grant funding that requires a new machine, or if a special need arises for which there is no suitable used machine on the market.
